The Task
At the "Science instead of animal experiments" (WIST) congress in Cologne in 2018, international scientists gave English-language presentations on the evidential value of animal testing and animal-free research methods. For the German-speaking audience, these presentations needed to be interpreted simultaneously – a subject with highly specialised medical and scientific vocabulary. Questions for the speakers also needed to be interpreted into English, to allow for a lively discussion.
Our Solution
simultando put together a team of two simultaneous interpreters specialising in medical and scientific subjects. The interpreters thoroughly prepared the subject-specific terminology from medicine and science in both languages beforehand. simultando also provided the appropriate interpreting equipment for interpreting the presentations.
